OUR MISSION

ReThink Plastic Vietnam is here to mitigate the impact of global plastic pollution on Vietnam’s ecosystem by fostering community engagement, stakeholder collaboration, and localized solutions. 

Rethink Plastic Vietnam's History

ReThink Plastic Vietnam was established in 2018 by a dedicated team of founding volunteers. With the mission to raise awareness about plastic pollution in Vietnam through impactful online and offline initiatives and engaging five strategic stakeholders in every event, RPV has successfully garnered attention and support for the cause. In the last years RPV has reached: 

  • More than 13,700 community members during the past 7 annual Plastic Awareness

  • 3,586 participants through seminars & symposia

  • 21 schools & 639 students in student challenges

  • 845 students through school & university workshops

  • 6,780 employees engaged in in-company plastic awareness campaigns

  • Achieved more than 52% reduction in single-use plastic usage through our Plastic Diet Challenges

  • Mentioned 32 times in local media

  • Engaged 3,713 participants in clean-up events

  • And reached 13,600 in online engagement.

Change in Chief (Executive Director)

Quyen Nguyen

Starting in 2025, Quyen steps into the role of Executive Director at RPV, continuing to drive the movement as our Change-in-Chief. With a deep passion for sustainability, Quyen brings her expertise in plastic reduction, circular economy, and community engagement to amplify RPV’s impact across Vietnam.

​

As the Founder of Laiday Refill, Quyen pioneered Vietnam’s first refill station, making sustainable living more accessible. As Director of CEL, she advances sustainable supply chains and is actively engaged in industry research including projects like Plastic Recycling in Vietnam.

​

Quyen believes in the power of everyday actions to create meaningful change. Whether she’s designing zero-waste solutions, advocating for plastic-free policies, or empowering communities, her leadership philosophy, "Be a part of the solution, not pollution," motivates her to balance business success with environmental and social care, adhering to the "3Ps: Profit – Planet – People."

Beyond her professional roles, Quyen embraces slow living, gardening, and painting. Her mission at RPV? To inspire and mobilize more individuals, businesses, and stakeholders to take real action for a less plastic world.

Pam ten Doesschate

Pam was taken aback by the pollution and plastic waste she encountered upon moving to Vietnam in mid-2024, prompting her to join RPV immediately.

In 2025, she stepped into the crucial role of Impact Coordinator, where her extensive experience in global executive search and managing projects enhances our mission.

 

With her unique insights and vast network, Pam is dedicated to driving meaningful change Her exceptional project management skills empower her to coordinate impactful programs that address community needs and promote sustainability, inspiring those around her to actively engage in creating a brighter, more sustainable future for all.
